In a previous life, towards the end of the working day, I frequently saw bundles of mail leaving the office. But this did not appear to be being pickup by Royal Mail. After finally plucking up the desire to ask what’s that for, i got the reply “its going to the mailing house”.
A few years and a few jobs later, my fiancée (and now business partner), found herself working for Scotland’s largest mailing house which coincidentally was the same mailing house that I had earlier enquired about.
After a short spell in this role of perhaps 10-12 months, Nicola soon learned all there was to know. During most of this time I was constantly being told how dated and how technically backward this large company was. Taking this along with the strong belief that we could secure a large mailing contract from a family friend led me to suggest starting a mailing house that we could run from my bedroom.
The idea of running a business from my bedroom was laughed at, but the idea of a mailing house was born.
